Following an invitation by the Criminal Investigations Department, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, arrived at the Police Headquarters in Accra for questioning.

His appearance on Monday, May 26, 2025, follows a failed attempt by a combined team of National Security operatives and police officers, who allegedly stormed his residence on Friday, May 23, to arrest him.

Upon his arrival, Chairman Wuntumi subtly displayed opulence as he was seen with the latest whip of the Bentley Flying Spur!

Chairman Wuntumi is a renowned businessman who has established himself in the mining sector. He owns a gold mining company in Obuasi and other parts of the country. He is also linked to HANSOL Mining Limited and Akonta Mining Limited, and he is the CEO of Wontumi Media and Group of Communications.

A deep dive into Bentley’s Flying Spur

The Flying Spur offers effortless acceleration, handles like a much smaller sedan, and is delightfully customizable inside and out. However, it occasionally rumbles when the gas engine activates. It also comes with so many customization options, such that it’s hard to choose, and automotive excellence comes at a commensurately high price (Car and Driver).

Interior and comfort

The interior of the Flying Spur is adorned with metal highlights, wood trim, and plush leather. The upgraded Nappa leather has a distinctive “3D” diamond-quilted design that improves ventilation and heating. Bentley’s interior designers have kept the brand’s classic look while adding contemporary technological features, including rear-seat massagers, a remote touchscreen controller for window blinds, and cabin climate control. There is plenty of room in the roomy trunk for luggage, champagne cases, or last-minute Rodeo Drive shopping.

Engine, battery and performance

Bentley has introduced the Flying Spur, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 plug-in hybrid, with a single electric motor embedded within the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 25.9-kilowatt-hour (net) battery pack. This results in 771 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful Bentley car ever built. The engine develops more torque at lower engine speeds, higher peak torque, and a higher power output throughout the rev range, making it half a second quicker than the previous car to sixty. Although it’s no longer capable of 200 mph, the Flying Spur’s 177 mile-per-hour top speed is still fast enough. The Flying Spur has a pure EV mode with 46 miles of range and speeds of up to 87 miles per hour. It’s easy to cruise on the highway with electric power, and charging takes less than three hours with an 11.0-kilowatt charger.

Technology and safety

The vehicle features a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, allowing easy access to the dashboard. It also features a full-length, open-pore walnut dash and a small tablet for passengers in the second row to control basic functions like seat controls and air conditioning.

Bentley offers several driver-assistance features like the adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, active park assist, and blind-spot monitor, among others. However, most of these features cost extra.

Chairman Wuntumi’s garage

He owns a fleet of other luxury cars, including a 2016 Range Rover Vogue, a 2020 Porsche Carrera, a 2016 Lamborghini Aventador, a 2021 Range Rover Sport, a Mercedes-Benz E Class Coupe, a 2016 Rolls-Royce Phantom, a 2020 Mercedes-Benz G63, a 2011 Dodge Nitro, and a 1965 Mercedes-Benz W110.
