WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app with over three billion active users, is testing two exciting new features aimed at making life easier for users. These updates are designed to improve how users manage their profile photos and use multiple accounts on the same phone.
The first new feature being tested will allow users to import their profile photo (DP) directly from their Facebook or Instagram accounts. This means you won’t have to go through the old process of downloading your photo from another platform, saving it to your phone’s gallery, and then uploading it to WhatsApp. Instead, with just a few taps, you can bring in your existing profile picture straight from your social media accounts. This shortcut saves time and helps keep your online profiles more consistent.
This feature was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android (version 2.25.21.23), according to WABetaInfo, a platform that closely tracks WhatsApp’s development. While it’s still in the testing phase, it shows Meta’s (WhatsApp’s parent company) continued effort to improve user experience by connecting its apps more closely.
In addition to that, WhatsApp is also testing support for adding a second account on the same phone. This is a big deal for people who use two different WhatsApp numbers — one for work and another for personal use — but don’t want to carry two phones. Once rolled out, users will have two simple options to set up a second account:
- Register a new phone number, or
 - Link an existing WhatsApp account using a QR code.

These changes are part of Meta’s broader goal to reduce user frustration and keep WhatsApp useful, especially as competition among messaging apps increases. By making small but meaningful improvements, WhatsApp continues to remain a favorite for millions across Android and iOS platforms.
These features are currently being tested and may be released to the public soon, depending on feedback and final development stages. Keep an eye on your app updates — these helpful tools may be coming to your phone next!
