Facebook is making a big change to how we share and watch videos on the platform. The company announced that all videos — no matter how long or what shape they are — will soon be shared as Reels. This means there will no longer be a difference between regular videos and Reels like there is now.

Currently, users can post both normal videos and short-form Reels. But with this update, everything you upload as a video will automatically become a Reel. Even the “Video” tab on Facebook will be renamed to the “Reels” tab. According to Facebook, this won’t change what types of videos are recommended to you — it’s just about making things simpler.
In the past, Facebook Reels had a time limit of 90 seconds. But with the new update, there will be no time or format limits, so your videos can be as long (or as short) as you like.
This move is part of Facebook’s plan to streamline how users upload videos. Instead of choosing between a Reel or a regular video and using different editing tools, users will now go through one process for everything, with access to more creative tools along the way.

Facebook says users will still be able to choose who sees their Reels — whether it’s the public, friends, or a custom group. The user’s default privacy settings will also apply to both Reels and the regular feed.
Some users might find the change a little frustrating. For example, if you upload a horizontal video, it might not look right in the Reels format, which is more vertical. Also, some people may not enjoy having short and long videos mixed in the same space.
Still, Facebook insists that the platform will continue to support all kinds of video content — whether short clips, full-length videos, or even Live streams.
The changes will be rolled out gradually around the world over the next few months, so keep an eye out for updates on your app.
