The international music streaming giant, Spotify has launched a new feature for its AI DJ requests. A feature that lets users make real-time voice commands. This update allows users to make specific music requests using natural language, which offers them a more personalized and interactive listening experience.
Currently, DJ Requests is available to Spotify Premium users in over 60 markets worldwide, including Ghana, but the functionality is available in English alone. Spotify has not yet announced plans to expand this functionality to other languages or to include podcasts and audiobooks in the AI DJ’s capabilities.
This advancement builds upon Spotify’s previous AI initiatives, such as the AI Playlist feature, which allowed users to generate playlists based on text prompts.
How to use the voice request feature
- Open the Spotify app and navigate to the AI DJ feature
- Press and hold the DJ button located at the bottom right corner
- Wait for the beep, indicating the AI is ready to listen
- Speak your music request clearly (You can say something like “Play me Laho by Shallipoppi” or “Play me Wizkid’s classic from 2010″)
This functionality helps improve the AI DJ’s ability to curate playlists based on the user’s immediate choice, like mood, genre, and activity cues.
