AI cannot take over these 6 jobs, here’s why

It is a no-brainer that AI has come to make things easier for humans. It converts hours into minutes, doing tasks that humans will naturally take hours to do in just a few minutes, sometimes, even seconds. And since AI started dominating workspaces, the narrative has been that it will take over jobs and render most people unemployed. However, there are some jobs AI can never do. These are jobs that require physical presence and one-on-one human interaction. Let’s look at some of the jobs AI cannot replace in this modern day.

Creative Arts

AI is unlikely to fully replace creative and artistic fields, as AI tools, like image generators, are merely recombining elements from training data. These tools produce predictive output, based on algorithms and exposure, and cannot fully emulate human creativity. They lack neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new connections between neurons and adjust function and communication between different regions.

Creative jobs that won’t be replaced by AI include sculptor, painter, jeweler, dancer, stage actor, watchmaker, glassblower, blacksmith, circus performer, live musician, muralist, fashion model, and social media influencer.

Business management and law

The Work Innovators report indicates that 57% of the most innovative companies are ready to incorporate AI into their operations, compared to 42% of non-work innovators. However, AI cannot replace human leadership and emotional intelligence, as MIT researchers found that AI models may make harsher judgments than humans. People with nuanced decision-making skills are critical in fields like business, HR, law, and HR, where balanced decision-making may be required.

Some jobs that won’t be replaced by AI include CEO, HR manager, business strategist, B2B salesperson, judge, lawyer, and legal mediator.

Sports

AI cannot replace professional sports players, trainers, adventure tour guides, or anyone involved in skilled physical activity.

Sport jobs that cannot be replaced by AI include professional athletes, coaches, dancers, adventure sports instructors, sailing instructors, and many others. AI will continue to play a significant role in sports, fitness, and recreation, but it cannot play the roles humans play in this field.

AI technologies cannot replace human interaction and interpersonal skills in healthcare, as people will continue to play a crucial role in providing bedside care and supporting mental health. However, generative AI can assist care teams with repetitive tasks like transcribing clinician notes or organizing data sets in Excel.

Some of these jobs include general practitioners, surgeons, nurses, midwives, physical therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and pharmacists.

Public services

Jobs requiring close community interaction, such as first responders, NGO workers, and mail carriers, will continue to require human presence. These jobs require skills like manual labor, decision-making, and empathy that machines cannot replicate. However, public service workers may use AI technology to optimize tasks like running diagnostics, finding the best driving route, or translating languages on the fly.

Some jobs that won’t be replaced by AI include firefighter, paramedic, police officer, search and rescue worker, social worker, NGOs worker, community organizer, parks and recreation manager, trash collector, and mail carrier.

Personal care

Service and personal care jobs will continue to require human touch, including event planning, hair cutting, and home cleaning. AI technologies may assist in data collection and scheduling, but human connection and empathy will remain essential.

Some of these jobs include hair stylists, makeup artists, tattoo artists, massage therapists, veterinarians, pet groomers, animal trainers, tailors, aestheticians, caterers, and housekeepers.
