A bold leap into the future of computing, Sightful’s Spacetop is redefining what we know as a laptop. Dubbed the world’s first “screenless laptop,” the Spacetop G1 replaces the traditional physical display with augmented reality (AR) glasses, creating a vast virtual workspace projected right in front of your eyes.

After months of anticipation and a limited beta program, the Spacetop officially launched in May 2024, priced at $1,900. This makes it a premium yet groundbreaking option for those ready to ditch conventional screens.
At its core, the Spacetop G1 combines a compact keyboard base running a custom operating system called Spacetop OS (built on Android) with a pair of specially designed AR glasses. When you put the glasses on, you’re greeted with a virtual 100-inch display floating in your environment — whether you’re in a café, on a plane, or at your office. The glasses track your head and eye movements, allowing you to interact naturally with apps, documents, or web browsers across an extended desktop.

One of the standout features of the Spacetop is its ability to allow multiple people to use it simultaneously — something unimaginable with a regular laptop. By connecting multiple sets of AR glasses to a single keyboard base, Sightful has created a collaborative experience where coworkers, friends, or family members can each view and work on different parts of the virtual workspace. It’s ideal for meetings or co-editing documents. The AR environment is also private; only you can see your screen, providing enhanced confidentiality in public spaces.
Under the hood, the Spacetop G1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, ensuring smooth multitasking across virtual screens. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and 5G support, so users can stay connected anywhere. The device also features an 8-hour battery life under typical usage, which Sightful says matches or exceeds most laptops during active use.

The Spacetop G1 initially launched in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and Japan, but Sightful has announced plans to expand to more countries by late 2025, including parts of Africa and Asia. The AR glasses themselves are based on a modified version of Nreal’s Light glasses, redesigned with higher resolution (1080p per eye) and a wider field of view, enhancing the immersion of the virtual workspace.
So, how does it work? After putting on the AR glasses, the Spacetop boots up a virtual desktop environment, allowing you to open multiple resizable windows, switch between apps, and browse the web using intuitive gestures or keyboard shortcuts. Since the virtual workspace is anchored in your physical surroundings, you can glance away and still see your environment at any time — reducing motion sickness and allowing seamless interaction with the real world.
In a world where hybrid work, privacy, and flexibility have become crucial, the Spacetop G1 is not just a device — it’s a vision of how we might work in the future.
