Mobile phone manufacturer, maker of Nokia and official smartphone partner of FC Barcelona, Human Mobile Devices (HMD), officially debuted in Ghana on April 15, 2025, adding to the many brands available to Ghanaians today.

The unveiled lineup includes two smartphones; HMD Arc and HMD Aura 2, alongside the Nokia 130 Music and Nokia 150 Music feature phones, all delivering on HMD’s promise of style, performance, and affordability. Both the HMD Arc and Aura 2 boast a powerful 5000mAh battery, designed to last up to three days on a single charge. They also retain 80% of battery health after 800 charging cycles, ensuring extended usability.

It has a 5 MP front camera and a 13 MP rear camera with auto-focus and an LED rear flash. It supports GPS/AGPS/Galileo, USB Type-C™, Wi-Fi, a 5000 mAh battery, and 10W charging. The device has virtual RAM of up to 2-4GB, cloud storage from Google Drive, 64GB of internal storage, and 4GB of RAM. It supports 4G network speeds and includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The 6.56-inch smartphone features a 20:9 aspect ratio, an HD+ V-notch display, and a resolution of 1612×720. It has a 13 MP AF dual camera with LED flash, HDR, tonal range enhancement, beauty filter, timelapse, pro mode, panorama, night mode, and QR code support. The front camera is 5 MP, while the rear camera is 13 MP. It offers Bluetooth® 4.2 and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It supports GPS, GAPS, BDS, Glonass, and Galileo, and is equipped with a 5000 mAh non-removable battery. The device supports 10W charging, provides 4GB of virtual RAM, and enables 4G network speeds.

The Nokia 130 Music and Nokia 150 Music offer excellent sound quality through powerful loudspeakers, along with a built-in MP3 player and FM radio that works with or without earphones. The Nokia 150 Music also features a camera for capturing casual, retro-style photos. Both devices are optimized for long battery life, with up to a month of standby time.

The introduction of HMD into the Ghanaian market coincides with an increase in demand for reasonably priced, high-quality mobile technology. And for people with a low budget, HDM’s entry into the Ghanaian market may be seen as a lifesaver, as it offers mobile phones at affordable prices compared to most of the phones on the market today. Ghanaians are presented with countless choices as HMD adds to the lot to pick from, and over time, its acceptance or rejection will determine how the brand survives on the market.
