While it may not be as outright luxurious as the BMW i7, the Lucid’s overall performance is better both as an EV and as a sports sedan. If it’s range, then the Lucid Air might be your best bet. Let’s get into this electric wonder and see why it might reign supreme over its counterparts.

Interior and comfort

The inside of the Lucid Air is roomy and blends premium materials with creative design. Its interior is reminiscent of a Rolls-Royce, with incredibly soft seats, a panoramic Glass canopy that improves visibility and airflow. , and plenty of back legroom. The Nissan Leaf, with a slightly smaller battery, costs about $9,500 to $12,000 for a full replacement. Tesla doesn’t officially publish its battery replacement prices, but reports from owners and independent repair shops suggest that a Model 3 battery swap could run from $13,000 to $17,000, depending on battery type and labor charges.

These prices can vary based on a few factors—mainly material costs, labor rates, and the technology used in the battery. A few years ago, the price of raw materials like lithium and nickel surged, pushing battery costs higher. While those prices have stabilized, battery manufacturing still accounts for a large chunk of the total cost of an electric vehicle.

The good news? Things are improving. Car manufacturers are switching to more affordable battery chemistries like lithium iron phosphate (LFP), which are cheaper and more stable. Gov’t targets 5,000km road upgrade in 166 constituencies by 2028

The Ministry of Finance has announced a groundbreaking initiative to improve road infrastructure nationwide, with 166 constituencies set to benefit from a 5,000km road upgrade over the span of three years.

This plan was unveiled by the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, during his delivery of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 24. The minister said that the government has “identified 166 constituencies in dire need of road infrastructure.”

“In response, we have programmed to rehabilitate 10km of roads annually in each of these constituencies. This translates to about 5,000km of roads to be reconstructed in these 166 constituencies in dire need of road infrastructure over the next 3 years,” the minister said.  

The 2025 Budget also announced the commencement of the Big Push Programme, a flagship initiative of President John Mahama for infrastructure development. Over the next two years, the President has dedicated all Big Push budgetary allocations to improving road infrastructure.

Parliament approved that all oil revenues and mineral royalties collected to the Budget be dedicated to the Big Push, resulting in a GH¢13.8 billion allocation for road infrastructure.

This road initiative will be undertaken in constituencies in the Oti, Central, Northern, Western, Volta, Ashanti, and other regions across the country.

For Ghanaians, this move means more than just better transportation; it means improved businesses and overall well-being. Farmers in rural areas will be able to transport their goods to urban centres with greater ease. Other businesses that rely on transportation to get their services across to clients but struggle with unreliable road conditions will now have it easier, in turn, boosting the economy.

The Ministry has also negotiated with telecom companies to increase data volumes across all networks, a move that complements the flexibility and efficiency of eSIM technology. These efforts show a commitment to making Ghana’s digital future more accessible and user-friendly.

The internet is barely a safe place for anyone, regardless of age, as predators and scammers are all over, harassing anyone they can get access to. To minimize the situation, Instagram’s parent company, Meta, is keeping an eagle eye on the teens who use the platform, making their safety a priority.

In a blog post, Meta announced a range of updates and shared new data on the impact of the latest safety tools. 

New safety features have been added to DMs in Teen Accounts, providing teens with more context about the accounts they are messaging and helping them spot potential scammers. These features include viewing safety tips, blocking an account, and displaying the month and year the account joined Instagram. Additionally, a new block and report option has been launched, making the process easier and ensuring that potentially violating accounts are reported to Instagram for review and action.

Meta reported that one million accounts were blocked and another one million reported after the launch of the Safety Notice in June. The Location Notice on Instagram also saw one million views, with one in 10 users tapping on it to learn steps. Since rolling out the nudity protection feature globally, 99% of people, including teens, have kept it on, reducing exposure to unwanted nudity. The company is also strengthening protections for accounts run by adults primarily featuring children.

Instagram is extending Teen Account protections to adult-managed accounts primarily featuring children, including strict message settings and Hidden Words. Meta is also implementing new measures to prevent suspicious adults from finding their accounts, such as those blocked by teens. The company will avoid recommending accounts to such adults, make it harder for them to find each other in Search, and hide comments from such adults.

Earlier this year, Meta said it removed nearly 135,000 Instagram accounts for leaving sexualized comments or requesting sexual images from adult-managed accounts featuring children under 13. An additional 500,000 Facebook and Instagram accounts that were linked to those original accounts were also removed.

However, this excitement was doused by Stellantis (Peugeot’s parent company) and Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (DPAN), who disclosed that the buzz was false.

Stellantis stated that the vehicle was a one-off tribute car, custom-built for the 2025 Flammes French Music Awards to honor the French rap group 113, who famously drove a 504 onstage during a performance. DPAN in Nigeria echoed the sentiment, clarifying that there are no plans to bring the model back into production.

Announcing the bold move, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, called it a “historic milestone” and a major leap toward positioning Nigeria as a global hub for world-class sporting events. Dikko emphasized that the proposal is more than just about racing—it’s part of a broader national strategy to boost tourism, attract foreign investment, build infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth.

The bid is being spearheaded by Opus Racing Promotions, officially appointed as Nigeria’s representative in the proposal. Their role includes liaising with Formula 1 management and key stakeholders to advance the project.

According to Dikko, this initiative falls directly in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE)—a national blueprint aimed at unlocking the potential of the sports sector to drive economic development.

Formula 1, often described as the pinnacle of motorsport, features single-seater race cars known for their blistering speed, cutting-edge technology, and aerodynamic precision. These vehicles are powered by hybrid power units that combine 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engines with advanced energy recovery systems, producing up to 1,000 horsepower. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds and reach top speeds of over 350 km/h. The series hosts races in some of the most glamorous cities across the globe—from Monaco to Singapore—and draws millions of fans both at the track and online.

Nigeria’s bid to host a race is seen as a game-changer for the African continent. While South Africa last hosted a Grand Prix in 1993 at the Kyalami circuit, the continent has since been left off the F1 calendar. Nigeria aims to change that. With Abuja as the proposed venue, officials believe the city offers the infrastructure, international accessibility, and ambition to meet Formula 1’s strict logistical and technical requirements.

Formula 1 competitors

Dikko revealed that invitations have already been extended to Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, and the renowned Tilke Engineers & Architects, the firm behind the design of many iconic F1 circuits worldwide. These stakeholders will visit Abuja in the coming months to assess the city’s potential and hold meetings with government and private sector partners.

“Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy with a youthful population, rising middle class, and a growing passion for motorsport,” Dikko said. “Hosting a Formula 1 race here would not only boost our global image but create thousands of jobs, inspire innovation, and leave a lasting legacy in terms of infrastructure and sports development.”

The proposed Abuja Grand Prix would likely be a street circuit—similar to those in Singapore and Azerbaijan—showcasing the capital’s unique landscape and urban aesthetics. The race would also serve as a powerful magnet for tourism, attracting international visitors and media attention while opening doors for local businesses and hospitality sectors.

Earlier this year, Dikko hosted officials from Opus Racing for high-level discussions in Abuja, which helped shape the bid’s technical framework. Since then, the initiative has received overwhelming support from the federal government, corporate sponsors, and Nigerian sports institutions, marking a united push to make history.
