Mahindra has introduced something exciting in South Africa—the XUV 3X0 Thula Sindi Edition. This special model is a collaboration between the automaker and South African fashion designer Thula Sindi, bringing a fresh and artistic touch to the popular crossover.

According to TopAuto, the idea for the Thula Sindi Edition started as a concept car in 2024. The design received overwhelming positive feedback, leading Mahindra to refine and launch it as a real production model.

A bold new look

One of the most striking features of this special edition is its zebra-stripe pattern running along the doors and roof. This design celebrates African creativity and local culture, giving the vehicle a bold identity. However, the front of the car keeps a clean white finish, creating a stylish contrast.

The uniqueness continues inside the car, where the headrests have been customized with exclusive Thula Sindi cloth covers. The front seats feature white and orange lettering in a safari-themed font, while the back headrests showcase three vibrant African patterns.

Performance and Features

As reported by top auto, Mahindra hasn’t made major changes under the hood, so the Thula Sindi Edition will likely have the same engine as the standard XUV 3X0. This means a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 82kW of power and 200Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The estimated fuel consumption remains 5.6 litres per 100km.

This special edition may be based on the high-end AX7L trim, meaning it could include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a digital driver display, wireless charging, and advanced safety features like blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera.

Safety and technology

Mahindra has packed the XUV 3XO with essential safety features, including electronic stability control, six airbags, and rear ventilation. The rear seats come with three proper seat belts, ensuring that passenger safety is a priority. Additionally, the wireless charging pad and sunroof in the MX3 variant make it a standout option in the budget SUV category.

Pricing and market position

According to Cars.co.za, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is priced competitively, ranging from R254,999(173,300.13) to just over R400,000(286,263.05), making it an attractive option for buyers looking for affordability without compromising on features. It competes with popular models like the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Kia Sonet, offering a longer wheelbase and better interior space.

TopAuto reports that this model was showcased at the 2025 Nampo Agricultural Show, where visitors had the chance to see its unique design elements up close.

A tribute to African creativity

As Mahindra explains, this special edition is more than just a car, it’s a celebration of African heritage and design. By blending auto craftsmanship with fashion and local influences, Mahindra has created a vehicle that tells a story of culture and innovation.

For drivers in South Africa, the Thula Sindi Edition is a statement piece, combining artistic expression with reliable engineering. Whether cruising through the city or exploring the countryside, this crossover offers a fresh take on style and identity.

While Mahindra has yet to confirm the full features list, industry experts believe the Thula Sindi Edition will be packed with premium options, possibly based on the high-end AX7L trim. This could include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a digital driver display, wireless charging, and advanced safety features like blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera (Mahindra, 2025).
