The Volta Regional Office of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has seized 60 vehicles and motorcycles for violating road safety regulations during a joint enforcement exercise in Ho between June 25 and July 26, 2025.

The vehicles were impounded during a two-day joint operation conducted by the NRSA, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Authority revealed that 10 private and commercial cars, along with 50 rickshaws, motorcycles, and tricycles, were seized.

This operation aimed to address common road user violations, including drivers without valid licenses, unlicensed or underage riders, vehicles without number plates, unregistered motorcycles and tricycles, non-approved lighting systems, and a lack of essential safety equipment, and enhance adherence to safety standards.

Offenders were instructed to renew or obtain valid driving licenses, roadworthy certificates, and insurance within two days. Those who failed to comply within the grace period were arraigned before court.

The NRSA emphasized that public education on road safety regulations had been intensified, leaving no room for excuses. The Authority announced that similar operations would be extended to other districts and municipalities across the region.
