A tipper truck driver has been left to battle for his life after being shot in the eye by armed robbers in Gomoa Potsin on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
During a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Gomoa Dominase District Police Commander, ASP Richard Ahiagbor, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack occurred during a robbery operation, adding to a growing trend of similar crimes.
Residents told Adom News that robbers are taking advantage of ongoing road construction along the highway to stage their attacks.

ASP Ahiagbor also said that the police have recorded more than four robbery cases in the area within the past week.
One such incident occurred on June 1, 2025, when a group of seven armed robbers attacked 10 commercial vehicles and robbed passengers of their belongings at Gomoa Potsin on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.
The incident occurred, and the robbers blocked the highway while firing indiscriminately. Reports claim they stole over 1.7 million CFA, an undisclosed amount of Ghana cedis, mobile phones, and other valuables.
Residents in Gomoa East are urging the Central Regional Minister, MP for Gomoa East, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and other agencies to increase security in the area.
Meanwhile, ASP Ahiagbor assured the public that the Police Administration has mounted several checkpoints along the road to help curb the menace.
