What should have been the beginning of a joyful journey ended in tragedy, as a heartbreaking incident in Guruguru, near Tamale in Ghana’s Northern Region, claimed the lives of a newly-wed couple just a day after their wedding on June 21, 2025.
According to a report by Lawson TV, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday while the couple was traveling by motorcycle to visit family members after their ceremony. In the Northern Region, motorcycles are commonly used as a primary mode of transportation.
The couple was reportedly struck by an oncoming unregistered vehicle, said to have been occupied by Nigerian nationals, who fled the scene immediately after the crash.
The bride, Ayisha Alhassan, tragically died on the spot. Her husband, Salifu Abdul Rashad, sustained critical wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to injuries.
Images from the scene show the motorcycle severely damaged and the front of the car mangled, indicating the force of the collision. However, no further reports have been cited from authorities.
