Alpine, the legendary French carmaker known for sleek, sporty machines like the A110, has just shocked the automotive world with something completely unexpected their very first SUV. It’s called the Alpine A390, and it’s not just another SUV trying to fit into the crowd. This is a bold and exciting leap into the future, blending electric power with the brand’s signature focus on driving fun and performance. Revealed in May 2025, the A390 is fully electric and built on the same platform as some other electric cars from Renault and Nissan, but that’s where the similarities end. The A390 is packed with power, tech, and style that push the boundaries of what an SUV can be. The top version, called the GTS, has three electric motors one in the front and two in the back giving it an incredible 464 horsepower. That means it can blast from 0 to 62 mph in just under four seconds. But this SUV isn’t just about going fast in a straight line it handles like a proper sports car thanks to smart tech that controls how power is sent to each wheel.

Visually, the A390 is a total head-turner. The design is sleek and futuristic, inspired by Alpine’s recent concept cars. The lighting on the front and back is sharp and dramatic, and the rear diffuser even moves to help improve aerodynamics at high speeds. The wheels are massive 22 inches in the front and 23 inches in the rear and they light up when the car’s advanced driving systems kick in, giving the A390 a kind of futuristic glow. Inside, the cabin feels sporty yet refined. There’s a tall touchscreen tilted toward the driver, physical buttons and knobs for important controls, and even a special lever marked “Overtake” that gives you a quick boost of extra power when you need it. Alpine also added a custom sound system that mimics the growl of a gas engine, so you still get that exciting driving feel even though it’s electric.

Every part of the A390 is proudly made in France, with the factory in Dieppe putting it all together and parts like the motors and batteries coming from other state-of-the-art French facilities. Pricing is expected to start around £60,000 which is approximately GHC701,000, with orders opening soon and deliveries beginning in 2025, The A390 is the second of seven planned electric vehicles from the brand, following their upcoming A290 hot hatch, The A390 isn’t trying to blend in it’s trying to show that you can still have excitement, style, and sharp handling in a family-friendly electric SUV.
